Infrared  Heat  Lights

Infrared heat lamps have been used in the agriculture industry to warm barns and chicken sheds, and come in clear as well as with colored filters such as red or blue.  They use electromagnetic radiation to transfer a deeper heat than a regular light bulb. Deer Fern Farms has recommended clear infrared heat lamps for their uromastyx.  Uros in fact do require a higher basking temperature than some other diurnal reptiles, and the clear infrared bulbs reach these temperatures.  Special care must be taken that your uromastyx can't reach the light or touch it as this will result in a severe burn.
